Dr. Bhavesh Thakkar

Dr. Bhavesh Thakkar is a proficient Gastroenterologist from Ahmedabad spearheading the Department of Gastroenterology at CIMS Hospital as HOD. Apart from this, Dr. Thakkar is also a visiting Gastroenterologist at Gujarat Cancer Research Institute, Ahmedabad since Jan 2014.

Dr. Thakkar, an alumnus of Govt M P Shah Medical College (Jamnagar), has completed post graduation in MD (Medicine). Furthermore, Dr. Thakkar finalized DNB (Gastroenterology) from Apollo Hospital, Chennai during which he carried out a high volume of work and thus acquired in-depth training and experience in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Transplant Hepatology.

During the period August 2009 to Mar 2010, Dr. Thakkar had a brief teaching experience as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, M P Shah Medical College, Jamnagar. However, he holds a wide endoscopic experience with over 6000 Upper GI Endoscopy and more than 3000 colonoscopic procedures executed till date. He is extremely well-versed with diagnostic and therapeutic Upper and Lower Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Thakkar also has a background in EUS training essential for providing more broad therapeutic interventions. Besides being well-trained in functional gastrointestinal testing procedures, Dr. Thakkar is excellent with the interpretation and implementation of Capsule Endoscopy. Over and above this, Dr. Thakkar's career statistics indicate over 350 ERCPs performed so far. His record in terms of posters and publications is also very significant.
